Luck Stone has teamed up with the Virginia Department of Education to re-launch The Luck Stone Rock kit. Originally launched in 2000, this specially-created geology toolbox is designed to provide public school teachers with a hands-on, engaging teaching tool to support students who study Virginia’s geology. Luck Stone was excited to provide each fifth grade public school in the Commonwealth with ONE complete kit at no charge. The new version continues to meet the Virginia Standards of Learning for elementary school Earth Science.
Luck Stone’s re-introduction of The Luck Stone Rock into Virginia’s public schools is a direct result of the company’s desire to support youth development and education throughout the state. Since its inception in 2000, The Luck Stone Rock has made the grade with thousands of teachers statewide and we hope the 2007 version scores high in classrooms.
After conducting focus group sessions with teachers who have used The Luck Stone Rock in their classrooms, we have made the following changes:
- Decreased the number of different samples from 22 to 12 and provided a double set of those 12 samples in each kit.
- Revised lesson plans to reflect the change in samples.
- Increased quantity of other specific kit components:
- Magnifying glasses
- Rulers
- Posters
- Included the "RockVA" CD from the original Luck Stone Rock kit.
- Included the Rock Kit website address: www.luckstonerock.com.
- Distributed the new 2007 Rock Kit to the media resource center / library of each school.
